Last weekend we spent the afternoon hiking to Ft Charlotte more or less along the Pigeon River. Ft. Charlotte was the western terminus of the Grand Portage where the voyagers would carry the 90 lb bales of fur the last 8.5 miles down to the stockade on Lake Superior. As with so many other trails used by the Europeans this trail was shown to the Europeans by the Native Ojibwe whose ancestral home this trail traverses.
The following images are some of the things that caught my eye.
Enjoy viewing the photographs on my Blog. But remember they are all copyrighted by Roger Nordstrom. Photographs are available for purchase on my web site www.rogernordstromphoto.com.
